Tom Beecher - President and CEO

As president and CEO, Tom brings more than 20 years' experience building businesses that require both consumer marketing expertise and business services skills. Prior to joining Cartera Commerce, Tom was CEO of Imagitas, a marketing services company whose clients included Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Home Depot. At Imagitas, Tom played a series of key roles in setting company strategy, managing relationships with key clients, and growing the company's core lines of business. As CFO at Imagitas, he led the $265 Million sale of the company to Pitney-Bowes and subsequently became CEO. Early in his career, Tom was a consultant at Bain & Co., president and co-founder of a start-up, and a financial services product manager at Fleet Financial Group (subsequently acquired by Bank of America). He has an A.B. from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.

David L. Andre - Founder and Chairman

An experienced entrepreneur and executive with more than twenty years' experience building and growing successful Internet and technology businesses, David Andre co-founded Cartera Commerce in 2005. A recognized expert in Internet search and e-commerce, David was founding CTO of Upromise, the largest and most successful coalition loyalty program in the United States. At Upromise David was responsible for Upromise's technology platform and also managed ongoing business, technology and partner operations. Prior to Upromise, David served as VP of Engineering at Lycos (acquired by Terra Networks SA) and Direct Hit (acquired by Ask Jeeves). Prior to these roles, David held senior technology roles at Rational Software (acquired by IBM), Object Design (acquired by Progress Software) and Symbolics. He also served four years in the U.S. Air Force at the National Security Agency. David holds a M.S.C.S. from the University of Maryland and a B.S.E.E. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Ben Kaplan - Chief Operating Officer

As chief operating officer at Cartera Commerce, Ben oversees engineering, solution delivery, marketing, product strategy and client services. Ben brings more than 15 years of experience in a wide range of high tech markets including e-commerce, CRM, search and analytics. Before Cartera Commerce, Ben was Vice President of Marketing at KNOVA Software, a leading provider of customer service, self-service and intelligent search applications. At KNOVA, Ben helped grow the company from 5 to 200 customers and established the product suite as an award-winning market leader prior to the company's acquisition by Battery Ventures and Consona in December 2006. Earlier in his career, Ben held executive and management positions at North Systems, Broadbase/KANA and Commerce One. Ben holds a BA from Harvard College.

Jim Douglass - Executive Vice President, Retail Advertising & Partnerships

Jim brings more than 15 years of operations management, strategic development and financial experience with high-growth financial services companies to Cartera. As Executive Vice President of Retail Advertising and Partnerships, Jim leads a team focused on the continued expansion of Cartera's national, regional and local in-store retail network. Prior to Cartera, Jim was CEO of Vesdia, a pioneer in partner marketing and merchant-funded rewards, which merged with Cartera in January 2011. Previous to Vesdia, Jim served as CEO for Atlanta-based Visionary Systems, Inc., a provider of decision systems for credit providers and retailers. Prior to Visionary Systems, Jim served as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and CFO with CheckFree Corporation, where he helped grow the company to more than $500 million in revenue as the leading provider of electronic billing and payment services. Prior to CheckFree, Jim served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of Medaphis Corporation, a leading provider of medical billing services and management software, and began his career with KPMG in the Financial Services practice.

Karen Cambray - Chief Financial Officer

As chief financial officer at Cartera Commerce, Karen Cambray is responsible for all aspects of finance, accounting, legal and human resources. She has more than twenty years of executive finance experience in early-stage, emerging technology companies. Before Cartera Commerce, Karen served as the CFO and Vice President of Operations at Zeemote, a venture-backed manufacturer of wireless controllers for mobile applications, where she managed all financial, legal, administrative and operational activities for the company. Prior to Zeemote, she was CFO of Groove Mobile, a venture-backed, mobile music company (acquired by Livewire Mobile in 2008), where she was responsible for financial operations, human resources, legal and administrative functions, as well as overseeing the network operations and data center for Groove Mobile's mobile music platform. Before that Karen held senior financial management positions at Be Free, Inc., Internet Securities, Millipore Corporation and Arthur Andersen.

Sarah Arvin - Vice President, Loyalty Programs

As Vice President for Loyalty Programs, Sarah is responsible for program development and partner management of Cartera's expanding client base of travel, hospitality and loyalty partners. Prior to joining Cartera, Sarah led product and program development at Vesdia for more than 6 years, and was instrumental in developing the company's private-label business as it evolved from BabyMint and other direct-to-consumer programs. Sarah brings more than 10 years of marketing, product management and business development experience in a wide range of markets, including high tech, interactive learning, content management, marketing and web technologies. Prior to Vesdia, she led business development efforts at Borland software, where she successfully designed and implemented the company's channel and partner programs to build an ecosystem of add-on applications in support of the company's market-leading Java development and testing tools. Ms. Arvin holds a BA from the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Ron Barale - Senior Vice President, Engineering and Solution Delivery

As senior vice president of engineering and solution delivery, Ron Barale is responsible for all software engineering, professional services and technical operations at Cartera Commerce. Ron brings more than 25 years of experience leading product development and services organizations in the CRM, e-commerce, business intelligence and enterprise search markets. Prior to Cartera, Ron served as vice president of engineering and operations at Marketo, a software-as-a-service company providing marketing automation and revenue cycle management solutions. Before Marketo, Ron held vice president of engineering roles at Inquira, a leader in enterprise search technology; BlueRoads, a software-as-a-service company specializing in automating the indirect sales channel; and E.piphany (acquired by Infor), a leading provider of customer relationship management solutions. Ron has also held senior positions at Red Brick Systems (acquired by IBM) and Compuware.

Marc Caltabiano - Vice President, Marketing and Products

As Vice President of Marketing and Products, Marc Caltabiano is responsible for product strategy, product management, marketing and public relations at Cartera. Marc brings 20 years of product and marketing experience in CRM, self-service, e-commerce, and enterprise search. Prior to Cartera Commerce, Marc was the senior director of product management at KNOVA Software, guiding the company's product and positioning strategy, product roadmap, and product and release management. Marc has also held product and marketing management positions at Siebel Systems and Sun Microsystems, and was based in Tokyo working for Disco Corporation, a leading Japanese semiconductor equipment manufacturer. He holds sixteen patents in search and knowledge management. Marc has a B.A. from Williams College and an MBA from the Haas School at the University of California at Berkeley.

Ann Calvit - Vice President, Solution Delivery and Operations

Ann Calvit has nearly two decades of experience in professional services, solution consulting and technical operations in e-commerce, loyalty marketing, financial services and advanced supercomputing. At Cartera, Ann is responsible for technical services, and infrastructure operations, testing and compliance. Most recently, Ann was vice president of technology integrations for Sports Loyalty Systems (SLS), an operator and marketer of loyalty programs for professional sports leagues and their franchises, where she managed technical partner relationships including Chase and FMI/ADS. Prior to SLS, Ann was vice president of technology integrations at Upromise and also held senior technical positions at Open Market, Kendall Square Research and mValent. Ann holds a B.S. in Computer Science from American University of Paris.

Pete Davis - Senior Vice President, Local Advertising & Partnerships

During his professional career, Pete has held progressive leadership positions with both Fortune 500 firms, as well as various entrepreneurial endeavors. At Cartera, Pete is responsible for spearheading the company's local merchant advertising partnerships and programs. Prior to Cartera, Pete was the founder and president of Vesdia, a pioneer in partner marketing and merchant-funded rewards. For his efforts, Pete was nominated for the coveted Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" Award and was also named to both the Grant Thornton "Catalyst 50" list of Atlanta's most influential entrepreneurs, and the Atlanta Business Chronicle's "50 Under 40" list of up-and-coming executives. Prior to founding Vesdia, Pete held leadership and management roles at Procter & Gamble, Wachovia Bank and Boston-based Sterling Millworks. Pete has Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Economics and Anthropology from Tulane University, a Master of Business Administration from Emory University, and a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University.

John Duncan - Senior Vice President, Sales & Business Development

As Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development, John brings more than twenty years of sales and business development experience in financial services and e-commerce to Cartera. In his current role, John leads all sales and business development efforts, with a focus on expanding the company's client base in financial services, travel, hospitality, loyalty and other key markets. Before joining Cartera, John led corporate development at Fotec Group, a private-equity holding company focused on high-growth businesses in the payments space. John's professional experience includes a more than 10-year tenure at First Data Corporation, where he held a number of senior management roles focused on corporate payment products and services, e-commerce and emerging payment models. John also previously held management positions at MasterCard, Transact Partners, Citibank and Next Jump, a provider of loyalty and rewards programs. John holds an MBA in Finance and a BBA in Marketing from Hofstra University.

Tom Mall - Vice President, Finance

An experienced financial executive with significant technology experience, Tom serves as Cartera's vice president of finance overseeing key financial and accounting functions. Tom joined Cartera from Vesdia, where he served as Chief Financial Officer. Tom began his career at SunTrust Banks, Inc. as a commercial banker. After earning his MBA, he moved to positions of increasing responsibility in corporate finance with Intercontinental Hotels Group PLC, Turner Broadcasting and Philips Consumer Electronics. Tom then became the lead financial executive at Visionary Systems, Inc., a company that provides unified data access and decisioning solutions to the credit card, wireless and banking industries. Under Tom's financial leadership, the company grew revenue nearly 200%, landing as number 15 on the Inc. 500 in just one year. Additionally, Tom managed Visionary's venture capital and debt raising efforts, which led to the successful sale of the company to TransUnion, LLC. Tom earned his BBA from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA from Emory University.

John Mangan - Vice President, Sales

As vice president of sales at Cartera, John oversees the development of new client relationships with financial institutions, travel and hospitality companies and loyalty programs. He has more than 20 years of experience in building and negotiating partnerships and loyalty marketing programs. Prior to Cartera Commerce, John was vice president of new business development at The Kessler Group, where he developed partnership solutions in the financial services arena, focusing on leveraging affinity partner assets to maximize revenue and customer engagement. Before The Kessler Group, John spent 17 years at MBNA America, most recently as director of product development, where he developed and implemented new products and credit card loyalty programs for large affinity groups, and partnered with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express to maximize cardholder value propositions and customer loyalty. John holds a bachelor of science in marketing and finance from University of Delaware. Back to top




Marc Mazzone - Vice President, Online Merchant Network

As vice president of online merchant services and development at Cartera Commerce, Marc Mazzone is responsible for the overall management of the company's 800+ online advertiser and merchant partnerships. In addition to merchant development and management, Marc directs the sourcing and merchandizing of merchant offers and creative assets across the network, striving to provide consumers with the best available rebates, deals and promotions in the industry. Marc comes to Cartera Commerce with a background in advertising sales, marketing communications and client services. Prior to Cartera Commerce, Marc managed the online merchant network as vice president of partner management for Upromise, Inc., one of the leading coalition loyalty programs in the U.S. (later acquired by Sallie Mae). Earlier in his career, Marc held sales and marketing positions with Lycos (acquired by Terra Networks SA), Student Advantage and the Community Newspaper Company. Marc holds a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an M.B.A. from Boston University.

Kevin McCarthy - Vice President, Retail Advertising & Partnerships

As Vice President of Retail Advertising & Partnerships, Kevin oversees the national merchant development and partnership teams at Cartera. Kevin honed his sales, marketing and leadership skills at a variety of companies within the non-traditional and new media world. Prior to Cartera, Kevin was Founder and CEO of Tangent Media, LLC, a marketing services company that creates proprietary marketing platforms around consumer behaviors, life stages and/or spending events, through exclusive public-private partnerships and commercial entities. Previously, Kevin served as Senior Vice President of Imagitas, a life stages marketing services company, where he rebuilt and expanded sales, initiated product development, drove marketing and improved client services functions, leading revenue efforts from $50MM to over $125MM, driving EBITA over $25MM, and culminating in the sale of the company to Pitney Bowes for $266MM. Earlier, his experience included leadership positions at Actmedia (now News America Marketing) a leading in-store marketing services company; PSP Sports Marketing, the worldwide leader in sports game day publications; as well as an eight-year tenure at USA TODAY. Kevin received a BSJ in Advertising from the University of Kansas.

Kathleen McEntee - Vice President, Financial Institution Programs

As vice president of financial institution programs, Katie is responsible for partner development and program management of Cartera's growing client base of financial institutions, including leading retail banks and card issuers. A senior banking executive with more than 20 years' experience, Katie was previously a senior executive vice president with MBNA and then Bank of America. Her responsibilities included business development, marketing strategies, relationship and P&L management of key affinity business lines. Katie was also the chief marketing officer of MBNA's first international operations in the UK and Ireland and member of MBNA International's Board of Directors. She has also previously held positions with Citibank London and Next Jump, a provider of loyalty and rewards programs. Katie holds a BA in Mathematics from the College of the Holy Cross and MBA from the London Business School.
